Our History & Experience
William J. Leahy Jr.:

A life long aviation enthusiast since before I could form the word "airplane."
I come from a family that has been involved in various aviation endeavors
since the 1950's.

My father served in the U.S. Navy and worked for United, Western and
then Delta Airlines up through his retirement in 1995. He is typed in quite a
few transport category aircraft from the DC-6 through the 757/767. My
sister is currently a 737 Captain with Southwest Airlines based in Chicago.

After attending the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Moody Bible
Institute's Missionary Aviation program, I built a general aviation
maintenance business from start-up to profitability including installing long
range fuel systems for some of the best operators in the business. After
September 11, 2001 and the effective tripling of my aviation business
insurance costs, I modified the business to be a worldwide aircraft delivery
and consulting business. I am very much in tune with the humanitarian
aviation providers the world over and the efforts they go through to better
mankind.

I have flown almost 60 different models of general aviation aircraft including:

Multi-engine turbojet: Hawker HS-125-700A; Cessna Citation CJ

Multi-engine turboprop: DHC-6 Twin Otter; C-23A Sherpa (Shorts
SD3-30); BE1900D Airliner; BE200, C90B King Air

I regard the flying that I do for
Mission Aviation Fellowship as the most
fulfilling part of my aviation experience, knowing that those aircraft will be
operated by friends serving the physical and spiritual needs of countless less
fortunate people around the world.
